Many volunteers, including high school students, showed up last night to serve struggling families in the Minooka/Channahon community. Volunteers set up the food line, passed out food and carried heavy boxes for 70 families. That is 70 families in Minooka and surrounding communities that took a basket of food home to feed their families. Taking care of the people in our community is one of Reclaimed’s priorities. The harsh reality is there are many people struggling right here in Minooka/Channahon and the surrounding communities.
Food trucks provide 10,000 lbs. of food accessible to anyone in need. Reclaimed works in partnership with Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide trucks in the spring through the fall. There is no proof of income or i.d. required for a person or family to come through the food line. Bring a basket, or better yet a cart or wagon, to carry the food.
The next truck will be Monday, July 24th at The Village Christian Church parking lot (8965 S. Bell Road, Minooka). If you’re struggling or know of someone that is, please come out for this event.
Distribution starts at 5 pm and is first come first served. It usually wraps up at 6 pm, or as soon the food has been fully dispersed.
