We love serving the men at Sheridan through our God Behind Bars ministry, creating a place where men can meet Jesus, grow in their faith, and discover that their past doesn’t have to define their future.
And one of our favorite parts? Hearing what happens after they walk through those gates.
MEET JOSH.
Josh was part of our Sheridan Correctional Center campus, where our Church Behind Bars ministry is creating space for men to discover that their past doesn’t have to define their future.
Recently, Josh was released, and we’re celebrating what God is doing in his life!
Today, Josh is working as an Outreach Specialist with Community Health Partnership of Illinois, connecting communities, nonprofits, and community organizations to bring vital health resources directly to the people who need them most.
He helps coordinate outreach events featuring a mobile medical unit, a fully functioning doctor’s office on wheels, and spends his weeks out in the community, connecting with people, sharing resources, and helping make free and affordable healthcare more accessible to underserved individuals.
Josh isn’t just rebuilding his own life. He’s now using his life to serve others and help build healthier communities.

This is why we love serving inside the walls of Sheridan Correctional Center. Stories like Josh’s never get old, and we are so blessed to play a small part in the work God continues to do at Sheridan.
Our goal isn’t simply to reach people while they’re incarcerated. It’s to walk alongside them as they discover their identity in Christ, prepare for what’s next, and step into a new life filled with purpose.
